Colleen Katana is a freelance writer and photographer based in New York City. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been published in regional magazines such as Chesapeake Pet and The Truth Magazine, and national publications such as Animal Fair and Nickelodeon. Colleen has also written cover copy for fiction and non-fiction books published by HarperCollins, Kensington Books and Citadel Press as well as press releases and grant proposals for various non-profits around New York.

From 2005-2008, Colleen was the associate producer for Nick News with Linda Ellerbee on Nickelodeon and received two Creative Arts Emmy Awards for her contributions to Nick News: Private Worlds, a show about children living with autism and Nick News: The Untouchables, a show about children living within India’s caste system.
